Understanding & preventing family violence

There’s a good chance that right now you may know or be working alongside someone who is experiencing some form of domestic, family or partner violence. The support you provide can make a huge difference. The culture at work can also play a big role in addressing the gender-based attitudes and beliefs that we know can permit these harmful behaviours. This session provides an overview of the key issues relating to domestic violence, including its prevalence, the common signs to observe, the various types of abuse, and the major risk factors and drivers. Importantly it provides recommendations for responding to and preventing domestic violence in a work setting, including tips for having low-risk conversations as a supportive bystander.
