This module explores how to identify red flags, respond to incidents and support others as an active bystander.

 

Watch as psychological health and safety facilitator and mediator Mark Dean explains the significance of identifying and responding to non-inclusive behaviours in the workplace. Test your knowledge in scenario activities and take away useful tips and insights for building your readiness to intervene as an active bystander and contribute to building a safe, respectful workplace culture.

Learning outcomes


  • Recognise the importance of the role of the active bystander in relation to harmful behaviours
  • Identify a range of behavioural risks that may undermine respect and inclusion, with a focus on microaggressions and gender and sex-based harassment
  • Identify and apply techniques to respond to incidents as an active bystander, including through having a respectful, assertive conversation
  • Identify and apply techniques to support people impacted by harmful behaviour, including through having a supportive conversation
